The following is a cut and paste version of Torn City's rules from the date of 30/7/06. We do not take any responsibility for your actions, misinterpretations or guarantee that these are correct/up to date. We advise that if you do not trust or have any doubts about what's on this page to check out the original rules on TC. To get to them go to Player Policies>Game Rules ("player policies" is located two links above the "logout" link). And please realise we are not torn city staff, we are merely players, just like you, who have created a fansite to help other, n00ber players.
Following is a list of violations of the game rules, and the resulting punishments. Some offenses may result in temporary suspension of posting privileges, or a jail term. Game staff reserve the right to interpret these laws in certain situations. Flooding Intentionally spamming or flooding of message boards will result in a 5 day jail term and/or a 5-30 day MB ban, depending on the severity. Multiple accounts Any player found to have more than one account will have the main account jailed and all other accounts deleted. Slutting (Losing to someone for money) Slutting is illegal in Torn City. If you are found with a slut, both you and the slut will be jailed. Player harassment The Internet is such an active environment that flame wars are bound to happen. It is therefore up to game staff to determine when a communication crosses the line into abusive. This is not to say that everyone must play nice, this is a Gangsta game after all. The harassment law only applies to continued and targeted harassment of a particular person, not the occasional insult. Public harassment of fellow players will result in a 10 day jail term, private harassment will result in a 7-30 day mail ban, depending on the severity. Staff harassment Any complaints against staff will be presented in a clear manner, free off any profanity or personal attacks. Slanderous/personal attacks/profane communications against staff members will not be tolerated, and will result in the offending comments removed, and a 10 day jail sentence for the offender. Selling of accounts and game items The selling of game accounts, currency or anything within the game for either real money or in another game currency is not permitted. Any player found doing so will get a 10 day jail sentence. Scripts/Continual Connections Any piece of software, without human interaction or regard to the content displayed is banned. In other words, every click sent to the game servers must come from a live person, not an automated system. Anyone found using such a system will be jailed for 60 days. Account Sharing Logging in to, or using another person's account will result in deletion of any/all of the offender's accounts. You cannot share an account or log into another person's account for ANY reason. Game bug abuse Depending on severity, game bug abuse will result in anywhere from a 30 day jail term to account deletion. Bugs, loopholes, security flaws, or any inconsistencies in the game should be immediately reported in the appropriate area. Account Ownership The account owner is responsible for their accounts actions at all times. This means that if anyone logs into your account such as a family member or your pet dog, you are held responsible. Keep your email and password secure. Repeat offenders Harsher punishments/deletions may occur for repeat offenders. Loss of items due to hacking/scamming Lost items will not be returned unless a game bug or glitch caused the loss. (Do NOT beg staff to return scammed goods, violation of this may result in a 5 day mail ban.) Ripping/Faction Staff Selling Unless the failure has been caused by a programming error, any loss of game currency, items or anything else caused by ripping or faction staff selling will not be returned. Lost accounts due to Hacking Accounts will be returned the their proper owner provided that the player can prove their identity. No game items or game currency will be returned however. Player placed images All player placed images should not be offensive to any part of society and should not violate any laws of the US. Any player having an offensive or illegal image will be either jailed or deleted depending on the severity. Player-Staff interaction Both Players and staff must act in a respectful manner. However there are times when a staff member is acting as a player and not an administrator. A staff member cannot use the excuse of they were acting as a player but they should be able to act as a player when there are no administrator duties to perform. Staff obligations to players Staff are obliged to respond to all questions and requests by players in a respectful manner. Scamming In Torn-City scamming is an illegal offence, offenders will find themselves with either a 30 day jail sentence, or immediate deletion. (Go ahead and scam and see which punishment you get) Some obvious rules are not mentioned here. We will not accept the excuse (it was not in the rules page) Comments (19)

I believe it would benefit everyone if it could be easier for couples who want to play. There should be rules posted for couples who live in the same house who want to play the game.

Everyone has friends round at thier houses now and again, who might have a Torn City account. If they use thier friends computer, how can they ever attack/send items to each other?
AND you get Fed Jailed for using a Middleman too!? TCB: If you log in on the same computer as other people, you can't send them items or interact in any way- including (obviously) middlemen- ever again (or until they purge the log, which is rumoured to happen sometimes). It's harsh, but there's no other way for TC to control multi accounts, and stop cheating. ...

well my fiancee used to play tc but has quit playing and she went onto her account and sent me money thru my mate ........... im now in fed jail for 16 more days which is a swine and the staff member who fedded me is a complete bitch who dont listen
my conclusion give women a little bit of power and they think they rule the whole world this is not ment to be offensive to anyone apart from chemigal lol ...

i have a acc and my girl fren also plays TC .. we are working in the same place .. and our IP is the same . can we get married or not
TCB: Mail a staff member and ask. If you don't send each other items etc it should be ok. If they say no, ask if it's ok if you don't share a house. ...

Just want to say , having read so many negative comments about 2 people playing TC from the same IP.. before my wife started playing i contacted TC Staff and asked for clarification of the rules and explained wife would be playing .. the staff member i spoke to was helpful and informative .. explaining that there would be no problems as long as no items were transfered or cash etc .. and we didnt share a house or be in same faction .. yes its a bitch i cant marry her in game but they are trying to do a tough job to stop cheats so they have my respect ...
(saying that i have saved all correspondence just in case an issue arises... i can prove i sought staff advice first lol) ...

i had my friend around and he has about 4 accountsand we were both logged in at the same time in the end all of his accounts were getting deleted and mine is in for 30 days and im donator so its costing me alot of money for his stupid behaviour

This should be updated, Slutting and Scamming are now legal. I've been scammed many times now, staff don't care.
Now if a staff member invested 100 million dollars to a stock market/banking scammer and lost it all, things might be different. (for sure.) What staff really care about the players anymore. ...
